Since 1989, Matthiesen's Deer & Custom Processing in De Witt, IA, has been your trusted local meat processor. We specialize in a variety of freshly made products such as sausage, ring bologna, hot dogs, and breakfast sausage. Our Story

Our co-owners, Chuck and Sandy Matthiesen got their start in the meat processing industry long before they opened a business of their own. Chuck’s father started a meat locker in DeWitt many years ago and eventually sold it to Chuck’s brother, Max. When they closed, Chuck and Sandy decided to open their own place because customers in the area would still call up Chuck for business.

Chuck is a hunter and often made sausage for himself and his family. Word got around and people in the community wanted some too! Chuck and Sandy turned a building they owned into a deer processing business and used it for extra income for 10 years. Matthiesen’s Deer & Custom Processing became so successful that Chuck quit his other job to do this full time!

The Matthiesens then added onto the building and made a slaughterhouse for butchering, so they could process beef, hog, and more meat. We make sausage, hot dogs and brats, ring bologna, and other delicious meats for our loyal customers. We are a small business that cares, and our slogan is Quality First!

Quality has no substitute, and neither does friendly service, loyalty, and a great selection, which makes Matthiesen’s Deer & Custom Processing a no-brainer for all your butchering and meat processing needs. We also provide catering for large events, like weddings, birthdays, graduations, and more.
